Meet my whole family at Shanzadi.com!
Hello - Thanks for stopping by.
My name is Ziba - Persian for "beautiful" زیبا I'm a girl dog; it is also a girl's name naturally.... I'm also a Labradoodle - a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle. I'm not a simple cross, its a complicated cross thing. Notice how my fur is quite smooth... we Labradoodles can range from woolly (like a poodle) to fine like me... :) Few can resist petting me and running their fingers through my silky fur. I'm told it is as therapeutic as it is addictive.
My sisters and brothers owe our existence to famed Australian breeder Wally Conron (Uncle Wally), who around 1988 bred the first Labradoodle. Yeah!
Uncle Wally's aim was to combine the low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the gentleness and trainability of a Labrador, and to provide a guide dog suitable for people with fur and dander allergies. Plus, both dogs are very smart, and love water - so you can't go wrong there. Thank you Uncle Wally!

See. I'm an excellent guard dog. Grrrr!
My mommy and daddy humans, [Niloofar Behzadi <DrNilooDDS.com> and John Shannon <SolaceRealty.com>] let me do a lot of cool things. We live near the beaches and bays in San Diego, California, so I can get into all types of water - both sandy AND muddy! I love smelling new people and places and especially wrestling with my cat brother Otto and sometimes awakening my OLDER tortoise brother Houdini from his 6 month naps. I can sleep a long time too, but six months is a really really long time - isn't it? They call it - hibernation - but it seem silly to me.
Sometimes, I like terrorizing (just kidding!) the Sea Lions at the La Jolla Cove and rolling in the grass. But mostly, I like eating, lying around, sleeping and growing.... I was born in February, 2016 and I was the runt of the litter, so I think I'll be somewhere around 35lb when fully grown. That's the perfect size if you were wondering.
You can catch my latest adventures... maybe watch me practice my loud BARK at seagulls, or as I invite children to pet my mop-like fur.

These retired people have it gooood!
I like to volunteer, especially to help people. Here I am volunteering at the local retirement community Casa de Mañana. I go here several times a month to say "hello".
One day, while walking with my family, we noticed some seniors stopped me for a much needed "pet fix" session. They just missed having a friendly dog to pet. So I/we volunteered - and now they pet me, and I kiss and comfort them with my wet nose!
Four long haired girls in a row... :)
I love people. This is a picture of me with my three new Chinese friends at Scripps Park in La Jolla. These nice ladies are graduate students studying Computer Science at UCSD. They temporarily adopted me and taught me some Chinese words.
This is how you say "dog" in Mandarin - Gǒu 狗.
Pretty cool huh!

I recently took a job working with my "People". My position is Director of Marketing. My job is difficult, but I get paid in Tendon Chews and Salmon Sticks, so it is worth it... Here is a picture of me at work: (I have to sit very still...)
